We Wanted the Airwaves!
We were kicking out the jams and playing block rockin' beats well before we began broadcasting on campus. Access Sacramento supported our cause from the beginning and trained our first wave of DJs. We began broadcasting on Access Cable, Channel 63 on Television and KCBL 88.7 on cable FM. We were "The Edge, Sac State Student-Run Radio." We had specialty shows that covered a variety of musical genres. We discussed local and national news, current events, campus issues, and music. We also played music...a lot of music!
Below are some of our very first shows. You can see how far college radio has (or hasn't) come. All it takes is two turntables and a microphone. So, pump up the volume and don't sweat the technique!
